Learn How to Say Thank You in Japanese Language in Different Situations

  • Arigatou (ありがとう) 

With a simple thank you, you can show your gratitude on any occasion or situation. So, you can use this word to show your appreciation or gratitude to your friends. 

  • Osoreirimasu (恐れ入ります) 

Use it at your workplace, especially when you are talking to a customer or a client. It is a much more formal way of showing your appreciation. 

  • Sumimasen (すみません) 

“Sumimasen” is used to say thank you in situations where someone has gone through a lot of trouble to get or do something for you. This means that I feel very bad that you have been gone through all these troubles for me, but thank you very much. Well, it also means Excuse Me or I’m Sorry. 

  • Arigatou Gozaimashita (ありがとうございました) 

It is used to say thank you to a person who has always helped you in the past or has always stood up for you. For example, you can use it to say thank you to your training manager. 

  • Arigatou Gozaimasu (ありがとうございます)

  • Doumo Arigatou Gozaimasu (どうもありがとうございます)
